Architecture

Blenheim road

Client: Homeowner
Cost: £100,000 - £120,000
Council: London Borough of Waltham Forest

Project:
~ Rear and side extension
~ Full internal refurbishment
~ Rear garden landscaping

This project centres on the transformation of the full refurbishment of a mid-terrace Victorian townhouse in London E17, featuring a side and rear kitchen extension alongside a substantial loft conversion. The ground-floor extension creates a spacious, light-filled kitchen and dining area that forms the social heart of the home, opening directly to the garden to enhance natural light and family living.

Above, the loft conversion provides valuable additional bedrooms and flexible accommodation, ensuring the house can adapt to the needs of an expecting family as it grows. The design balances contemporary interventions with sensitivity to the historic character of the Victorian fabric, using complementary materials and detailing to unify old and new. The result is a modern, functional and enduring home that strengthens both everyday living and long-term adaptability.

Park Hall Road, London

Client: Homeowner
Cost: £80,000 - £90,000
Council: London Borough of Barnet

Project:
Side extension
Ground floor refurbishment
Rear garden landscaping

The proposed scheme introduces a single-storey side extension to the existing rear wing of an end-of-terrace Victorian townhouse, forming part of a wider ground floor refurbishment. Designed to enhance both function and flow, the addition allows for the creation of a spacious new kitchen that becomes the heart of the home, connecting seamlessly to the existing garden.

The extension sits sensitively against the historic brickwork, employing contemporary yet sympathetic materials to complement the original architecture while clearly defining the intervention as a modern layer in the building’s evolution. Generous glazing to the rear and side brings natural light deep into the plan, improving the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces and providing a flexible, open setting for family life and entertaining.

Albert Place, Welwyn Garden City

Client: Homeowner
Cost: £50,000
Council: Welwyn Hatfield Council

Project:
Rear Extension

The proposed small rear extension to a new-build home in Welwyn Garden City is designed to meet the evolving needs of the young family, offering a practical and sensitively integrated addition to the existing property. The single-storey extension adds approximately 15 square metres to the rear of the house, creating a flexible open-plan space that serves as a family room and informal dining area, seamlessly connected to the kitchen.

Designed with clean lines and large glazed doors opening onto the garden, the extension maximises natural light and strengthens the indoor-outdoor relationship. The form and materials have been carefully selected to complement the original home's contemporary style while respecting the character of the local garden city context. Internally, the layout has been reconfigured to improve flow and functionality, supporting the family's day-to-day life and future growth.
